If you are upgrading your browser to any of these suggestions, please print these instructions so that you can refer to them during the download and installation of your browser upgrade.

How to check your browser version

If you're not sure which version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari (Macintosh only) you're currently using, follow these easy steps:

Windows:

1. Click on Help in your browser's top menu bar.
2. Scroll down to About Internet Explorer or About Mozilla Firefox.
3. The top line of the resulting window displays your browser version.

Macintosh OS 9:

1. With the browser open click on the Apple Menu.
2. Click on About Internet Explorer.
3. The top line of the resulting window displays your browser version.

Macintosh OS X:

1. With the browser open, click on Safari or Explorer on the top left corner.
2. Scroll down to About Safari or About Explorer or About Mozilla Firefox.
3. The line under the title of the browser contains the browser version. If you are using Safari, the build version is in parenthesis next to the version number.

Enabling JavaScript:

For Microsoft Internet Explorer and America Online:

1. On your browser, select Internet Options under Tools on your top navigation menu.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Select the Internet Icon on top if not already highlighted, then select the Custom Level button on bottom.
4. Scroll down to the heading under Scripting, make sure all three Enable radio buttons "Active scripting", "Allow paste operations via script", and "Scripting of Java applets" are selected.
5. Select OK to exit current popup window, then OK again.
6. Refresh or Reload your browser.

For Firefox: By default Java/JavaScript is enabled. To check this option:

1. Select Tools > Options from the toolbar and open the Content panel.
2. Check the 'Enable JavaScript option and click OK.

Enabling Cookies:

For Microsoft Internet Explorer and America Online:

1. On your browser, select Internet Options under Tools on your top navigation menu.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Select the Internet Icon on top if not already highlighted, then select the Custom Level button on bottom.
4. Scroll down to the heading under Cookies, make sure the two Enable radio buttons "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" and "Allow per-session cookies [not stored]" are selected.
5. Select OK to exit current popup window, then OK again.
6. Refresh or Reload your browser.

For Firefox: By default Firefox accepts all cookies, including cookies which would allow a site to recognize you effectively forever. If this doesn't suit you, you can tell Firefox to delete all cookies when you close.

1. Select Tools > Options from the toolbar and open the Privacy panel.
2. Select the "I close Firefox" option from the "Keep Until" preference in the Cookies section.
3. If you want to grant sites you trust the ability to store cookies permanently (e.g., to allow you to log in automatically to a site.) Click Exceptions > Enter the site address > Click Allow.
