Identity Verification and Online Banking

What is Identity Verification?

Space Coast Credit Union is dedicated to protecting your account information from falling into the wrong hands. Our Identity Verification within Online Banking uses questions and answers you personally choose to validate your identity before allowing access to your accounts.

How Identity Verification Works

Identity Verification helps prevent unauthorized access to accounts. This extra layer of protection requires a one-time enrollment and only takes a few minutes to complete. Choose any link below for more information.

Members New to Online Banking

When you first login to Online Banking, you will be prompted to create a set of security questions and forgotten password questions with answers that only you know. The next time you are prompted to answer a question, your answer must match the answer you set up initially before you can proceed to your account information.

  • Identity Verification Security Questions provide an extra layer of enhanced security by validating your identity before allowing access to your accounts. Participation is a regulatory requirement of using Online Banking and takes just a few minutes to complete.
  • Forgotten Password Questions allow you to gain access to your account by answering pre-set questions when you can't remember your Online Banking password.

When Will I Be Asked to Enroll?

If you are completely new to SCCU Online Banking, you will be prompted to enroll the first time you login to the service.

How to Get Started

Existing Online Banking Members Converted from an EFFCU Account

Space Coast Credit Union is committed to providing our members with the highest level of Online Banking security while also meeting governmental regulatory requirements.

For former Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union members converted to SCCU accounts, this means you will be prompted over time to complete our Identity Verification process, which includes creating:

  • New Username/Password

Current web security standards do not support the use of an EFFCU member number and EFFCU PIN as secure Online Banking login criteria. If you have not already done so, you will be required over time to change your Online Banking login information to a new Username and Password that is not your EFFCU member number and PIN.

  • Forgotten Password Questions

These questions allow you to gain access to your account by answering pre-set questions when you can't remember your Online Banking password.

  • Identity Verification Security Questions

This feature provides an extra layer of enhanced security by validating your identity before allowing access to your accounts. Participation is a regulatory requirement of using Online Banking and takes just a few minutes to complete.

The next time you are prompted to answer a question, your answer must match the answer you set up initially before you can proceed to your account information.

One feature of Identity Verification protection is that, over time, your "typical" patterns will be recognized. You will then only have to answer your security questions under certain circumstances, such as when you login from a different computer or when you conduct an unusual transaction.

Please note that participation in Identity Verification is a regulatory requirement and must be completed to use SCCU's free Online Banking service.

When Will I Be Asked to Enroll?

If you are a former EFFCU member who had used Online Banking, you will be prompted to enroll in Identity Verification when you login to Online Banking. Enrollment is completed in stages, so you may not receive a request to enroll for a few weeks after we begin the process.
