Bounce Proof Your SCCU Checking Account
SCCU provides a number of services that protect your accounts, even when you're not watching them yourself!
Take advantage of these beneficial options to prevent overdrawing your account, and ways to fund your transactions if it happens:
The First Line of Defense:
Free Alerts
Sign up for Alerts through Online Banking to receive an email or text alert when your account balance reaches a certain level, when a direct deposit is received, or even get your balance every morning. SCCU's Free Alerts allow you to manage your checking account even when you're on the go.
- Multiple alerts are available, including Daily Balance and Transaction alerts
- Alerts are a free member service
- If you have alerts set up on multiple accounts, you will receive one email containing all your balances - not multiple messages to clutter your inbox

TIP: Get started today and set up a Daily Balance Alert that provides your checking account balance each morning. Balance running a little low? Log in to Online Banking or use CALL-24 to transfer money and avoid any non-sufficient funds or overdraft fees ahead of time!
The Next Level:
Overdraft Transfer Service
Even if you are careful in managing your account, mistakes do happen. Make sure you are set up with our Automatic Overdraft Transfer Service so funds are automatically transferred from your other SCCU accounts in the event you overdraw your account.
- Automatic Overdraft Transfers can be set up from your primary savings account as well as other SCCU savings accounts, or your SCCU Visa® credit card.
- There is no cost to sign up for this service and no monthly or annual fee.
- A $10 fee is charged only when you actually overdraw your account and we transfer money for you.*

TIP: You can specify up to 8 accounts, so make sure you have more than one account type chosen to transfer from to avoid a more expensive non-sufficient funds or overdraft privilege fee.
Covering All the Bases:
Overdraft Privilege (ODP)
Overdraft Privilege (ODP) works as a backup to your checking account for those times when you make an honest mistake balancing your account. ODP covers overdrafts up to your limit to help save you the embarrassment of being denied at the register or of having a check returned.
- There is no cost for having this feature as part of your checking account.**
- You are assessed a $30 Overdraft Privilege fee only when you actually overdraw your account and ODP covers the overdrawn amount.
- All eligible checking accounts** already feature basic ODP benefits that cover most check and Bill Payer transactions.
Learn more about Overdraft Privilege or opt-in for ODP.
TIP: While all eligible checking accounts** already feature basic ODP benefits, the basic level does NOT cover ATM transactions or one-time debit card purchase transactions. To be covered for these transactions, you must "opt-in."
*Fee information is current as of August 2011 and is subject to change. Fee based on Member Rewards level. $10 fee applies to Basic, Active, and Gold members; $5 fee applies to Platinum members.
**Health Savings Checking, Money Market Checking, Trusts, and Custodial Fiduciary accounts are not eligible for ODP coverage. Limits are based on your account relationship with SCCU. Please refer to your account opening package, visit a local branch, or call the Member Service Center for more information concerning your specific ODP limit or eligibility.
