Our specially designed credit building checking account provides basic checking services for members with a negative credit history. This account also provides members with the opportunity to add additional services based on a history of good account management.

SCCU's New Directions Checking Account has everything you need to run your household, including:

  • $25 minimum opening deposit
  • New Directions Savings Account required as your primary SCCU account

I dislike the restrictions that were placed on my account for the first year. I was a 20+ year customer of my last financial institute and did not like their customer service and this is the only reason why I changed banking institutions.

i was not informed of the hold time/only deposits to my savings account under the new directions account. Although it was listed in the fine print given to me they did not inform me of this upfront. Also they refused to cash any checks made payable to me I can only deposit them (after being placed on hold). I have left my account open, but switched to another bank for my everyday banking needs. (we have another credit union account Navy federal, that we have had for a number of years with no problems but your bank did not take that into account when opening an account with your establishment) I truly hope that some mgmt will see this note and change some of the guidelines.

I quit sccu after 4 years because I supposedly didnt qualify for a free checking account which better met my needs. If I can not have a free checking account and its benefits, then I dont want one with Sccu at ALL.

The type of account that I have is that I have to go into the bank to deposit my money . Just wish that I could use the ATM when the bank is closed.Wish I could use the ATM on the week-ends.

The people at the Credit Union in Deland are very nice. They smile and greet me. It's seems like a nice branch. It was not explained to me that I would have the "new directions" checking account. I don't like certain features and haven't yet decided it I am going to stay with Space Coast, but we'll see how it goes.

I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO EXPLORE MANY OF YOUR SERVICES YET. I WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER EQUIPPED TO ANSWER THE SURVEY IF I HAD WAITED A MONTH. IT WOULD BE NICE, IF I COULD BALANCE MY CHECK BOOK ON LINE. IF I COULD MAKE LITTLE CHECK MARKS NEXT TO EACH TRANSACTION ON THE COMPUTER. THEN WHEN I WENT BACK INTO THE COMPUTER I COULD SEE WHICH TRANSACTIONS I HAD ALREADY VIEWED.

not sure how it happen but our checks were sent to our previous address instead of new address. They were returned to check company and destroyed and we were refuned the the charge and new checks were ordered and we did receive them.

I had a problem with someone using my account and the very next day my money was replaced into my account while they reveiwed my dispute. That has never happened in any other account that I have had. I also received my new card in just a few days. My experiences so far have been very good.

It would be nice if SCCU got more updates ATM's for their members. The ATM are old and are often broken when I got to a branch to use one. This takes the convenience out of using an ATM. Also, I wish their was a way that you could allow people with restrcted accts to make deposits via the ATM. Maybe make it so that the funds do not become available until the deposit is verifed, but still allow those of us with this type of acct to still make the deposit through an ATM. I find the ATM services a little resrtictive to members.

Once, I over withdrew my account in the amount of 39 cents. Of course, I automatically incurred a hefty fee. When I brought this up to one of SCCU's associates, she quickly opted to remove the fee because the overdrawn amount was so little. That really made a difference and it was clear she was very customer service oriented.

Please put a branch in Seminole County! We moved to the Lake Mary area and need to drive to Deltona to do any "in person" banking. Just put one on the other side of the St. John's for those of us who don't want to switch from SCCU! As for the personnel, they are always wonderful! Whether it be on the phone or in person the customer service is excellent. When my husband, Justin, goes into the Deltona branch and the teller (also named Justin) is working, he always greets my husband with a boisterous greeting by name. I know its an easy name to remember when it is your own, but its a nice touch.

My money in the bank is mine whether it is savings or checkings. I feel that if I overdrawn money in my Checkings that there should be no fees for transfering money from savings to checkings. If I had no money in my savings and overdrawn in checkings, then a fee should be provided. I've been a customer for over 20 yrs. and I have been happy with the service, just no the fees.

While it is understandable that someone like me with a poor credit rating would need a special account to re-start their credit. I do not understand why I should be charged should I decide to leave the bank before 6 months. What happens if I should move out of the service area for this particular financial institution? It is as if I am punished for leaving because either the products or services are not up to my standards or if I should need a different type of banking resource.

I think that the bank statements should be emailed and if their is a problem send notice in the mail before the problem causes the account to close, because the individual may not have access to a computer it may have gotten broken that way they will still be informed of the problem, or of the actual statement regardless.

I have never been able to access my online banking since i got my account it would be nice if there were a better tutorial as to what pin to use where you get that pin if you already have that pin etc etc you should get that pin when you sign up your account not have to mail letters or do other things to get it or since its supposed to be 100 percent internet get the pin with your account number and last 4 of your cc# or something of that nature.
