Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Charity Card Program?

Space Coast Credit Union's Charity Card Program donates a portion of Pink Platinum credit card ScoreCard® Rewards Points earned by members carrying this card to a charitable organization focused on breast cancer research and education. 50% of your earned rewards points are converted to a cash equivalent and are donated on your behalf to the charitable organization. 50% of your earned rewards points are converted to a cash equivalent and are donated on your behalf to the charitable organization. This donation goes directly to the charitable organization identified by SCCU. Nothing is deducted for administrative expenses or other costs.

After 50% of the points have been donated, members can redeem the remaining points for rewards such as merchandise and travel vouchers, and/or donate to SCCU's exclusive Education Donation Program.

All members with a Visa® Pink Platinum credit card are automatically included in the program. Members who do not wish to contribute will need to change their card style by calling the Member Service Center at 800-447-7228, option 5.

Where do the donations go?

SCCU has identified the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation as the recipient charity organization for members' donations. The Florida Breast Cancer Foundation is a 501(c)3 grassroots not-for-profit organization dedicated to ending breast cancer through advocacy, education, and research. Learn more about the FBCF.

SCCU reserves the right to change the charity recipient organization at any time and without prior written notice.

How much is the point donation worth?

The conversion rate as of May, 2009 is 1.3 cents per point. Example: A donation of 500 points during a month will result in a donation of 500 x $.013, or $6.50.

Are there any limits?

There are no limits to how much a member can donate. Donations are based on the net ScoreCard points earned on the charitable card. 50% of the points earned will be automatically removed from the member's account and given to the stated charity in the form of a cash donation.

Can I donate with my Platinum Visa Credit card AND my Visa Debit card?

As of May 1, 2010, only Platinum Visa Credit cards may donate to the Charity Card Program. Learn more about the change to the consumer debit card rewards program.

50% of the rewards points earned on the Pink Platinum credit card are automatically donated. Points are donated on a per card basis.

Can I continue to donate to the Education Donation Program?

Yes! Your Education Donation Program donation will occur AFTER your charity points have been donated. For example, if you earned 1000 points in a given month, 500 points will be donated to the charity. Your Education Donation percentage will then be taken from the remaining 500 points left in your account. For example: If you are donating the maximum Education Donation percentage of 75%, your Education Donation recipient will receive 375 points for that month. Please see our Education Donation FAQs for specific limits tied to that program.

Can I still redeem points for rewards?

Remaining points AFTER your charity donation and AFTER any Education Donation you have set up are available for redemption at www.scorecardrewards.com.

How do I see how much I've donated?

SCCU sends ScoreCard Rewards statements ONLY via email. This monthly statement shows how many points were donated to charity, how many points were donated to Education Donation, how many points were redeemed, and how many points were earned during the month.

If you do not currently have an email address on file, please call the Member Service Center, or log in to Online Banking to update your information.

I don't want to donate. How do I change my card style?

All Pink Platinum credit cards as of May 1, 2009 are automatically included in the program. If you prefer not to have your points used in this manner, please contact the Member Service Center to request a different card style. Points will continue to be donated until you receive and activate your new card.
